History: The Kentucky Thumbpickers Club was formed on April 1, 1990 and was the first
thumbpicking club organized. The purpose of the club is to promote and perpetuate the playing of thumbstyle guitar as
performed by Jerry Reed, the late Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and the other legends.
We began as friends picking on Friday night and now many years later, we
are still friends picking every Friday night. Come join us.
KTPC is truly an international organization with members in Scotland, England, Australia,
France and other countries as well as pickers throughout Kentucky and all around the United States.
Meeting Date and Time is the Second Saturday of even numbered months (February, April, June, August, October, December) at 2:00 p.m. The short business meeting is generally preceded by a informal jam session and is followed by a guest performer or the continuance of the jam session. Light refreshments are available. Members, friends and the general public are invited to attend.
Our Meeting Location is Clifton Baptist Church, 1947 Frankfort Ave., Louisville, Kentucky 40206. Exit I-64 onto Melwood Ave and turn right at the first light, Frankfort Avenue. Clifton Baptist Church is on the left at the corner of Frankfort Ave and Bellaire Ave.
Friday Night Jam Sessions are held every week at the Church. Pickers and public alike are invited to attend and there is no charge at the door. Bring a friend and join in or pull up a chair and just listen.
Club Membership is open to anyone with an interest in thumb and/or finger style guitar. The KTPC has members in countries all around the world. To become a Kentucky Thumbpicker and receive your quarterly Newsletter with picking party and concert information, simply mail your personal check for $16 annual dues with name, address, phone number and e-mail to our Treasurer, Scott Taylor, 1428 Corona Drive, Lexington, KY 40514

The KTPC Newsletter is mailed quarterly covering all of the club activities and picking events in and around the State. The newsletter has reviews of thumbpicking CDs and videos and features a calendar insert that lists Club Events and thumbpicking and fingerstyle guitar performances and workshops.
Club Logo Merchandise including Thumbpicks are now available! These are Fred Kelly thumbpicks in "Slick Pick" and "Speed Pick" styles with the initials "KTPC" printed on them. We have Fred's picks available at the meetings with KTPC logo or Tuck Raisor label.
